Who is G-Pop?
Since 1978, G-Pop has been fishing the waters in and around James and Folly Islands near Charleston, South Carolina. If you have spent any time on the Folly Beach Fishing Pier, the Frog Park, or the dock at Sunrise Park, you may have already met this legend of Lowcountry angling. G-Pop makes it his mission to build personal and community links through a shared appreciation of fishing, the beauty of the Carolinas, and the fine art of not doing too terribly much. He is also full of an absolute arsenal of hokey greetings and wholesome jokes that quickly convert strangers to friends.
G-Pop has spread the love of fishing to three children and six grandchildren, all of whom live, work, and fish in the Charleston area. G-Pop Bait and Tackle is managed by one of G-Pop’s sons, but is founded on G-Pop’s local knowledge and famously easy-going attitude. By renting from G-Pop Bait and Tackle, you are benefiting from three generations of knowledge and skill. And if you are lucky, you might take delivery from G-Pop himself who will be more than happy to put face to name and help you enjoy your Lowcountry fishing experience.
